Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often from homeowners considering a new deck.

Most custom deck builds take between 2 to 4 weeks from the start of construction, depending on the size and complexity of the project. The full timeline from initial consultation to completion is typically 6 to 10 weeks, which includes the design phase, permitting, and material ordering. We provide a detailed project schedule before breaking ground so you know exactly what to expect.
In most municipalities, yes. Any deck that is attached to the home or is more than 30 inches above grade typically requires a building permit. We handle the entire permitting process for you, including drawing up the plans, submitting the application, and scheduling all required inspections. The cost of permits is included in our project estimate.
It depends on your priorities. If budget is the main factor, pressure-treated lumber is reliable and affordable. If you love the look of real wood and do not mind regular maintenance, cedar is beautiful. For minimal maintenance and long-term durability, Trex composite is hard to beat. And if you want the absolute best material that will last 50+ years, Ipe hardwood is the premium choice. We walk through all the options during your consultation so you can make an informed decision.
Deck costs vary significantly based on size, materials, complexity, and site conditions. A basic 12x16 pressure-treated deck starts around $15,000, while a large multi-level composite deck with pergola and built-in features can exceed $60,000. We provide free, detailed estimates after an on-site visit so you get an accurate number based on your specific project -- not a vague range from a website calculator.
Yes. We partner with a third-party lending company to offer financing options for qualified homeowners. Plans range from 12 to 60 months with competitive interest rates, and we also offer 12-month same-as-cash options on select projects. We can go over financing options during your consultation, and applying does not affect your credit score.
We offer a lifetime structural warranty on all new deck builds. This covers the framing, ledger board connection, posts, and all load-bearing components. If any structural element fails due to workmanship or materials, we repair or replace it at no cost to you. Additionally, composite and hardwood decking materials come with their own manufacturer warranties (Trex offers a 25-year fade and stain warranty, for example), which we register on your behalf.
