Three decades of dedicated legal service to the Charleston community and beyond.
In 1994, Robert Caldwell Sr. left a prestigious regional firm to pursue a different vision of practicing law. He believed that clients deserved more than billable hours and form letters. They deserved a lawyer who knew their name, understood their situation, and would fight as hard for them as he would for his own family.
He started with a single office on Broad Street, a paralegal, and a commitment to doing things right. Word spread quickly. Within five years, the firm had outgrown its original space and welcomed its first associate attorney. By 2005, Caldwell & Associates had moved to Commerce Plaza and grown to a team of four lawyers.
Today, our firm employs eight attorneys and a support staff of twelve, serving clients across Charleston County and throughout the South Carolina Lowcountry. Despite our growth, we have never wavered from the founding principle that every client deserves personal, dedicated attention from an experienced attorney.
Each member of our team brings specialized expertise and a shared commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for our clients.

The principles that guide every decision we make and every case we take.
We are honest with our clients about the strengths and challenges of their cases. We never overpromise, and we always deliver on our commitments. Our reputation is built on trust.
Your attorney should be available when you need them. We return calls within 24 hours, provide regular case updates, and make sure you always have a direct line to your legal team.
We measure our success by the outcomes we achieve for our clients. Every strategy, every motion, every negotiation is focused on securing the best possible result in your case.
We limit our caseload deliberately so every client receives the individualized attention they deserve. You are never just a file number at Caldwell & Associates.
Caldwell & Associates is more than a law firm. We are part of the fabric of Charleston. Our attorneys serve on the boards of local nonprofits, coach youth sports, and volunteer with legal aid organizations that provide free representation to those who cannot afford it.
We are proud sponsors of the Charleston Legal Aid Society, the Lowcountry Food Bank, and the MUSC Children's Hospital Annual Gala. Robert Caldwell Sr. has served on the Charleston County Bar Association's Pro Bono Committee for over 15 years, and our firm provides more than 200 hours of pro bono legal services annually.
We believe that a law firm has a responsibility to give back to the community it serves. When Charleston thrives, we all thrive.
