Discipline. Respect. Strength.

Traditional Japanese martial arts for every stage of life. We don't just teach techniques. We build character, confidence, and the discipline to carry both beyond the dojo.

What We Teach

Four Paths. One Dojo.

Each discipline offers a distinct path through the martial arts. Together, they form a complete education in the budo traditions of Japan.

Karate

Japan / Okinawa

The foundation of our curriculum. Students develop striking precision, defensive awareness, and mental clarity through kata and kumite practice. All ages and levels welcome.

Judo

Japan

The "gentle way." Judo teaches students to use balance and leverage rather than brute strength. Throws, pins, and ground control develop both physical coordination and humility.

Aikido

Japan

The art of harmonious movement. Aikido redirects an attacker's energy rather than meeting force with force. Ideal for those seeking a meditative, flowing approach to self-defense.

Iaido

Japan

The art of drawing the sword. Iaido is a highly refined practice of kata performed with a wooden or live blade. It demands absolute focus, economy of movement, and a still mind.

Who Trains Here

For Every Stage of Life

The dojo door is open to anyone willing to show up, work hard, and respect the art. We have structured programs for children through adults, beginners through advanced students.

5-12

Kids Karate

We meet children where they are. Classes build focus, coordination, and confidence through structured, fun training that reinforces respect and self-discipline.

13-17

Teen Program

Teens train with greater intensity and purpose. Programs address the mental and physical challenges of adolescence while building real self-defense capability.

18+

Adult Classes

From absolute beginner to advancing black belt. Adult training is rigorous and rewarding. There is no age limit on starting. Many of our most dedicated students began after 40.

Beginners Welcome

You don't need prior experience, special fitness, or any particular body type. Every black belt in this dojo walked in on day one knowing nothing. That is where it starts.

"The goal is not to defeat an opponent. The goal is to defeat the version of yourself that would quit."

The guiding principle at Rising Sun Martial Arts

From Our Students

Words From the Dojo

My son has been training here for two years. The change in him has been remarkable. Not just the martial arts. His focus in school, his respect at home, his ability to handle pressure. Sensei Hayashi runs a serious dojo and the kids rise to meet it.

Laura M. Parent, Kids Karate Program

I started at 47. Thought I was too old, too out of shape, too late. Sensei heard that and just said, "Everyone starts somewhere." I earned my green belt last spring. The adult beginner class is genuinely welcoming and the progression is structured and clear.

David K. Adult Student, 3 Years

I trained at three other schools before finding Rising Sun. The difference is obvious the moment you walk in. This is a traditional dojo. The instruction is precise, the lineage is real, and the expectation of respect runs in both directions. Exactly what I was looking for.
