Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions we hear from clients.

What should I bring to my notary appointment?

Bring a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID card). You should also bring the unsigned documents that need to be notarized. Do not sign them before the notary arrives -- the notary must witness your signature.

What types of ID are accepted?

We accept current, unexpired government-issued photo IDs including a state driver's license, state-issued identification card, U.S. passport or passport card, and U.S. military ID. The name on your ID must match the name on the document being notarized.

How long does a notarization take?

A standard notarization with one or two documents typically takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Loan signings are more involved and usually take 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the document package. We always arrive prepared to work efficiently.

Can you notarize at a hospital or jail?

Yes. Our mobile notaries regularly travel to hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and correctional facilities. Please call ahead so we can coordinate with the facility's visiting policies and ensure a smooth appointment.

What is Remote Online Notarization (RON)?

RON allows you to have documents notarized through a secure video call without meeting the notary in person. You connect via a webcam, verify your identity through knowledge-based questions, and sign your documents electronically. The notary applies a digital seal, and the session is recorded for compliance.

What is an apostille?

An apostille is a certificate issued by the Secretary of State that authenticates a notarized document for use in another country that is a member of the Hague Convention. It verifies that the notary's signature and seal are legitimate. If your document is going to a non-Hague country, you may need a different authentication process instead.
