Three Generations of Craftsmanship

What started as one man's passion for fine furniture has grown into a family tradition spanning over four decades and thousands of restored pieces.

Heritage Workshop, Est. 1984

A Family Legacy Built Stitch by Stitch

Heritage Upholstery & Design was founded in 1984 by Salvatore Marchetti, an Italian immigrant who brought Old World upholstery techniques to Savannah's historic district. From a small workshop on Broughton Street, Sal built a reputation for quality that kept customers coming back for decades.

His son, Robert "Bobby" Marchetti, grew up surrounded by fabric swatches and the hum of sewing machines. By the time Bobby was twelve, he could tie an eight-way hand-tied spring base better than most professionals. After studying furniture design at SCAD, Bobby returned to the family business and expanded it into custom furniture and commercial work.

Today, Bobby leads a team of skilled craftspeople out of a 3,000-square-foot workshop on Drayton Street. His wife Claire manages design consultations and fabric sourcing, while lead craftsman Jamal Washington brings his own decade of expertise to every project. Together, they have restored over 6,000 pieces and earned a reputation as Savannah's most trusted upholstery shop.

What We Believe In

Everything we do is guided by a simple set of principles that have been part of our family business from day one.

Preserving the Craft

Traditional upholstery techniques like eight-way hand-tied springs and hand-stitched edges are disappearing. We keep these methods alive because they produce furniture that lasts generations, not just years.

Quality Over Speed

We never rush a project. Every seam, every tuck, every spring tie is done right. Our clients know that when Heritage finishes a piece, it is built to last. That is a promise we have never broken.

Sustainability Through Restoration

Reupholstering extends the life of quality furniture by decades. Instead of sending a well-built sofa to a landfill, we give it a second life. It is better for your home, your wallet, and the environment.

Trusted Fabric Partners

We work with the finest fabric houses in the industry to offer our clients an unmatched selection of materials for every style and application.
